Yes, this is very usefull. For example you can have a preset manager in a sub patch with preset isolate enabled and set the preset manager to control the parent patch. This way only the parent patch is affected by the preset manager.

It means that you can have more accuracy on what you want to store in your preset manager. For example you can put a preset in a sub-patch which stores data's of the parent patch.
For the Mouse message it's the same idea, you can send mouse messages in a container, control panel. it's very useful...
