My way is similare yours but i am at the beginning.
Only the idea : obtain events and generate sound with the mouvements of the dansers.
i can't invest in motioncapture system... too expansive for explorative approach.

And... Yes i buy an old Kinect too.
but like you, OSC is realy difficult to use.

Do you use Usine on Mac or PC ?

i work with two painters for an exhibition.
(the video is here : https://vimeo.com/130152951)
But real interactivity is missing.
like in the part of your film, i think the result of interativity must to be at the first place in the artistic project.
After this experience, i begin a reflexion with a student in electronic and sound to capt
sounds from canvas and others things to transform and play with.

Two way for interactivity...
here it's great for me to exchange with people who have the similare idea project :)

bye
Pascal

As you have noticed it, the interactive section is the first one. The second part was creating live by me with loops and stuffs. The idea was that the sound in the first part would be controlled by the dancer and the second one by me.

I used that wiimote controller because I didn't have much time to developpe a more complicated system. The Usine module was the perfect way to receive acceleration datas and then use them as I wanted. And yes that is not the best system regarding the dancer movement because he has to deal with that sensor on him.
The next project i'm gonna do will be with a kinect, but I have to learn how osc works before

I'm really looking forward to see your works with painters, hit me up when you can send me one of those!

Best regards,
Baptiste

i work with painters and danseurs but no interaction today.
just in project.

The first part of your performance show the real interaction between mouvement and music.
The danseur seems to be free and plays with sound variations ...like a musician.
in the second part, i don't here the interaction. Do you use his mouvements ?

Why wii ?
Other mouvement capture système are expansive.
And not very fun for danseurs to were a lot of sensors or a remote control !!!
Do you try other système like Kinect or caméra + color tracking ?

for me, it's complexe :
program on puredata or vvvv
and work with OSC... not easy.
i need time to learn and explore.

For painters, micro piezo fixed on canvas is more easy.
just need help to connect asynchrone signal to my inputs.

Thanks to sharing this great job.
great to : the vidéo !!!
have fun
Pascal

Hey iococoi! thank you for your feedback. Regarding the wii setup, the usine module is amazing. You have instantaneously access to all the parameters (triaxial acceleration, pitch, roll and yaw). The only problem I had was the use of the 'position' parameter. I think the Galilean frame was the bluetooth sensor of the computer, but the values were quite anarchical, without any logical.

I've made my first project on Usine Hollyhock I during the past few months. I used the Wiimote module in order to create an sound texture reacting at the whim of the dancer's movements.

You can watch it here : Chemins Croisés

The interactive section is during the first part.

Enjoy!

Baptiste
