Hello to all the community.
At the Start of this New Year 2012 we wish you lots of joy, good news and success for you and all your family.

It's time for us to give you some information about the future of Usine and Sensomusic in what we call a "road map".

1)MacOS version
We are working on Usine for MacOS and probably iOS (iPad, etc.)
We plan to release the first alpha version this summer, and beta(s) at the end of the year. As you imagine, it's an hard job but very important because lots of musicians are working on Mac.
During this long development period, suggestions & improvement will be be probably delayed.

2)Usine will be simplified
The actual version of Usine inherit of several dark codes and old stuff in the engine and overall ergonomics. The development of the MacOS version is a good chance to change deeply the interface of Usine to be much more efficient and simpler. We'll let you know very soon our vision of what will be DAW in the future: get ride of the traditional track/timeline paradigm and turn Usine into a more "object" approach.

3)Sensomusic Foundation
In the middle of January we will launch the Sensomusic Foundation.
The Sensomusic foundation will be dedicated to artists and projects using Usine in a creative and innovative way.

Through various actions, we will try to provide financial supports to artists and projects during the year:
- best add-on contest
- licences Donation
- video clip contest
- direct financial support for artists or collective projects

4)OSC learn
we'll launch the next version of Usine very soon (5.71). The main improvement will be the implementation of 'OSC learn' functionality.

Probably a good excuse to complete my collection apple taste.

Good news ! We will probably all very happy to inherit some of the advantages of Mac OS, hoping not to suffer too much disadvantage.

I stay tuned and available for testing.

OSC Learn! Waoouuu! A unique feature in the jungle of the OSC !

Wow an exciting and busy year for you Senso! The Foundation sounds like a great addition to the Usine community :)

Curious about the OSX port, are you going to be using Lazarus or are you moving away from Delphi?

The technical specification aren't totally fixed but we'll probably use several layers with
- Delphi XE2
- visual C++ + Juce

Precision about Usine Open Source

The open source project is still on the road but a little bit delayed. For that we need:
- create an efficient open source environment like sourceforge,
- create a very clear documentation and help for developers

It takes a lot of time and actually we try to focus on the MacOS version. The Open Source will quickly arrive (we hope) after.

Very good idea for usine as modular environment. This will open new ways for experimentation. Because I don't think that people choose or prefer Usinu for sound manipulation in conventional way.

I hope this will not turn usine into onion like logic - next - next -next

Hi all.

It is great idea to develop Usine on Mac Os. Sometimes i realise some workshop in music school about improvisation and non-conventionel music. Of course i work with Usine. There is a real desapointement when i tell to the teachers and musicians that Usine works only on Windows Computer ...
So great News !!!

I know it is a hard job ... thank you all.

I read somewhere in forum that main problem why Usine does not work on Linux is ASIO drivers. But Mac OS X also have no latency issues, therefore no ASIO drivers. Does this mean that v6 will be compatible with Linux too?

Personally I stay windows only for Usine, a mac version is welcome.
A wrapper dx plugins would be nice also (for freeware).
A envellope adsr integrated sampler for polyphony seems essential to me (I know I repeat myself).
All these projects are ambitious, good luck!

Senso said :

Does this mean no more time line ? I guess Time line can be usefull for installations or other uses ...

Anyway the way is great

I obviously understand well why an OSX version will be welcome. It is still the official mainstream for "professional" music...

But I find also that a Linux port would be a very coherent move considering Usine and Senso's "phylosophy".

Is a Wine compatibility something hard to implement ?
I think of Reaper that has been thought like this from the start and that runs very well in Linux without needing a special version.

If about philosophy.... Actually windows is not so bad now, but I' m afraid that so it stays forever. Because 8 is not moving on right direction, and I don' t think that 9 or even 10 will be better. The focus is on aesthetics not on performance. And maybe it's not because of windows but society and popular culture.
I have no doubt that Mac osx is very good, but that's against my metaphysical principle :D

I searched for this, but couldn't find any info...

Will Usine 6 support 64 bit VSTs (or both 32/64 with bridging) and will it have the option to export 64 bit VSTs?
Also, will we have the option to customise the whole interface? (including the standard usine menus and whatnot from above the workspace)

Usine will be 64 bits and interface will be more customizable.
About VST export, nothing is really decided actually, so i can't tell you

:) Just little correction: "exactly" is impossible in world. it is possible only in mathematic and logic.
Actually this is why I like French philosophy, because they know it

I'm a little afraid that "lego orientation" will engage uSine into "puredata" or "Max" way, I choose uSine because of it's more intuitive and direct result possibilities. Mixing desk should last ? No ?

Don't worry gdlive, we're really, really far from pure data.. !

When i talk about "lego" , it's only about his simplicity...if i want to put a red on a blue, i can simply take a red and add it on the blue...
if I don't want it anymore, I put it in the trash ...:D

BAAAAAANNNNNNNNAAAAAAAANNNNNNNNAAAAAAaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa :-)

Wow - the new direction is brilliant. Simple things like multi-select make me very happy.
The physics made me laugh out loud - what a cool thing to have!
I'm also very curious about the video support.

On first glance the Layout looks a bit confusing, but this is a very early version so I'm sure this will mature a lot until release.

I bought the pre-order offer immediately and hope to be able to give some positive feedback when the beta starts.
I'm really looking forward to that!

Thank you so much and congratulations to all involved!

Wow :-)
