Hello to the community,

Thanks for all your supports and patience.
We have good news, Hollyhock is being now finalized. We have still details (but important) to improve now:

- the demo set of workspaces, library, ready-made patches, etc.
- the user manual and the wiki.
- in-line help.

We'll probably not launch the Alpha Developer Preview Version but directly the beta for all Platinum Members.
It's just a matter of days now.

Senso

Good news!
People like me running the Usine 5 stage version need some more details to jump on Hollyhock:
- will there be a Hollyhock stage version (still under discussion last month)?
- will the Hollyhock's sampler solve the click problems which are passionetely discussed in this thread
Thanks

no win 8 for me Seamus, I don't use touch screens ;)
I bought a used HP 8560 (I need firewire/expresscard for my soundcard)... buy a 9 month old laptop and you save 1000€

i thought touchscreens would be perfect for usine. I heard performance of windows 8 is an improvement over windows 7 too. To each their own though. Your right older hardware is a much better deal.

As we have discussed somewhere, the 'save as vst' function will not be implemented in the first version of hollyhock.
We are not fixed for futures versions because the cross platform 'save as vst' is very-very complex to implement.

I searched but can't seem to find the answer, will Hollyhock come as a VST plugin for use in other hosts like Cubase in my case. Been looking for an alternative to MaxMsp and came across this, nice!

Another general question I had. I really am interested in generative midi processes like Fibonacci sequences, fractals, L-systems, Chaos mapped to midi. I worked for awhile in Symbolic Composer and like the output but grew tired of the text based interface. Would it be possible to build, script or whatever that type of thing using Hollyhock? If so that would be a dream come true for me, that and the fact you can work with video.

Brand new here, thanks for any info...

I'm not competent to replay about Hollyhock, but do you know Iannix? there are lot of possibilities with MIDI and specific systems more over if you are ready to script.

Hi everybody,
here is a little story intended to shorten the time we all are waiting for Hollyhock.

There is that tale about the Djinn (ghost) imprisoned in a bottle.

The first 1000 years he said he would give a big reward to the person that opens the bottle - but the first 1000 years no one opened the bottle, and so, for the following 1000 years, the Djinn decided to torture and kill the person that releases him..................

So, I hope we will get something during current April and we will love it.

...to help pass the time, i just want to point out some recently rejuvenated music apps, which might be worth checking out:

1. Tracktion 4

After years of sulking in some Mackie department, the original developer has taken his baby back home. Full blown DAW and terrible nice companion to Usine. Nice pricetag with ~60 $ for the full version.

http://www.tracktion.com/

2. Deckadance 2

Some of you might actually do some DJ ing( like i do) and Deckadance is the only "serious" DJ application (i know of), that is also available as VST plugin. So you can put some "wheels of steel" love in your Usine workplane and DJ along..after years of development, Image Line (Fruitloops) has put out version 2 . it is rather fresh and i'm not too happy with it, put at least some development ..so many DJ apps just died out, like Avids Torq 2..

We are doing our best to speed up the process...
But sometime speed is not really compatible with quality.
So, one more time, be a little patient.

whoa guys...could you at least keep up those monthly news things? ..it's about 5-10 minutes work to sum up current states and post them in the forum..even with a tight schedule, that's manageable!!
