Haven't had the chance to listen (at work...), but if you used the Step MIDI or the Random MIDI modules, these only generates NoteOns which might account for the overload problem.
The simplest way to generate NoteOffs, is to patch in a MIDI Transformer and set length>0.

Another direction to explore is to play a midi sequence (in tempo) but with a jitter on the tempo: use a random data or a step data connected to the master sync tempo.
It gives a very interesting 'human' playing.
