I've just had a go at running Usine on 10.6.4 but with no luck - it just quits straight out. Anybody else tried this with sucess?
Thanks!

hello,
Usine is actually not supposed to work on MacOS.
To run Usine you'll have to install Windows on your mac with BootCamp. That is what I do and it's not so difficult.

Virtual machines like 'Wine' or 'Parallel' can do a good job but most of ASIO driver aren't compatible.
the universal driver ASIO4all can help. I know that it's generally fine with the built in sound card with a huge latency...

ps: We are studying the MacOS version but you'll have to be patient.:(

Bjr,

Merci

Tu fais bien de dire "soi-disant"...;)

(appologise for my answer, I'm not sure it's so usefull to reproduce the Mac vs PC discussion here... but it is not easy to let this idea without responses)

Back from the formation this week end , i can tell you Usine works fine on Bootcamp without really big problems , works also on parallels and Fusion but really instable with asio drivers, even if asio4all solve a little part of them .

About the other question, i will let senso answer but remember he is the the only developer...?

and please use English on this forum ..if you really need to speak french use the audiofanzine forum

Hey thenapkin and all others!
Since yesterday, there's a new version 4.0 of the free Oracle VirtualBox ([s]www.virtualbox.com[/s] www.virtualbox.org) available - the first thing I tried was to check if Usine Free is running on my MacBook Pro (OSX 10.6 and Win XP 32-bit as guest) with it.
To my big surprise (3.x was unusable for Usine), it appears to work beautifully with ASIO4ALL and the internal sound card, at least at moderate latencies. Will play around with it in more detail later, but you might give it a try.
I've used the AC97 audio driver, but there is also a new Intel HD driver available that might help.

ah, you're absolutely right! sorry.
it's www.virtualbox.org

(also apart from Usine I can really recommend this VM, so far there has not been a single Windows program that has issues with it and the performance is great even for heavy applications. and it's under GPL)
