Hi all,

I purchased Usine Hollyhock last year, but unfortunately lost the installation files when my computer broke. Now I have a new PC and a little bit more time, so I want to try to install it again. I wonder where I can download the old version that was still part of my Platinum membership, and where can I find my serial number? I already searched all my emails, and I almost believe that I didn't get one via email.

-----------------

So, I was curious to have a look at Hollyhock II. Then I ran into another issue:

I downloaded the demo, unzipped the archive and launched the EXE file. Then I got the error message "not enough resources":

But, it is a relative new PC with 16 GB RAM, Pentium Processor, Windows 10, Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 audio adapter. What could be the problem?

Immediately after I tried to launch the program I got the security alert from my anti-virus software:

I downloaded it twice and got the same result twice.

------------

For any hints or help I would be thankful.

Best regards, Martin

Hollyhock 1 from what I remember wasnt based on serial number, but let the user download the full-version if you were logged in as a Platinum user.
If you scroll down on the download page there should be a section for Hollyhock 1.

Thank you, Sephult. You are right. The download of Hollyhock 1 seems to be a personalized version (with my username in the zip file name).

But unfortunately it also cannot run on this PC. "not enough system resources to run the service"... :(

Here's my system configuration:

...and my virus protection gives the same security warning for Hollihock 1 as for the demo of Holihock II. Perhaps this warning is not valid, and maybe I can try to add an exception. But it will not help if the system resources are insufficient.

Best regards, Martin

you're license was valid until July 2015, so you can download Usine 2.0.077 on the download page, no serial here, use your forum username + password in the about tab

About your resources issues, it's really strange, if you restart your computer and run only Usine, same result ? nothing heavy running in the task manager ?

yes, i can confirm you there's no virus or malware in Usine so you can create an exception

Hello Nay-Seven. That was the solution... I restarted my PC - now I can confirm that I can start Usine Holyhock 1, and Hollyhock II without a problem, and the "security warning" from the anti-virus software has gone. The first demo (01.grid) also works fine.

I guess the system was already too busy and kind of confused with running only Firefox and Chrome (with some opened tabs).

Thanks again. Best regards, Martin

The weird thing is, when I am connected to the internet, I get the same messages back. When I disconnect from the internet, I can launch the application without resource problem or security warning. In the next days I will reset my firewall and anti-virus software back to Windows defaults to see if that's a possible reason.

Hello Nay-Seven,

last night I uninstalled Comodo Firewall and Avira Anti-Virus - after I restarted my PC, the problem seemed to be disappeared.
I am now only using the Windows standard protection and I guess that it also fine for me.

I must say, I only made 1 test. The second test will follow this evening after work. But I am almost sure that Comodo Firewall or Avira (or both) was the reason.

Best regards, Martin

Avira should be fine, I use it for ages and never had an issue with it, but Komodo Firewall is the worst piece of software I ever used. It made my computer unusable and almost broke my windows installation. I had regular reproducible blue screens and the developer never even acknowledged the problem although I had bought a 3 year license - and from what you write, it sounds as if it's still broken. It is one of the rare software products that I actually warn people off ...

What I do in Avira is setting the heuristic level to low, otherwise it can become a bit overeager ... ;-)

I hope you get it running smoothly!

Cheers,

Tom

Hello Tom, thank you.

I agree with you about Avira. I used it already for a decade or longer without any trouble. Now I uninstalled it. I also read some good reviews about Comodo, so I gave it a try. To be honest I had all kinds of problems with almost every thirdparty software firewall that I ever tried. Maybe the Microsoft firewall and antivirus software is still a good option. At least I never had a serious problem with the default Windows software.

That's strange I have had exactly the same problem when running for the first time version 81b (lack of system's ressources and avira's warning message), after restarting computer everything works good, without desinstalling anything. I'm on windows 8.1.

Interestingly enough, after playing with Usine for a while, suddenly the same problem reoccured. Multiple reboots of my PC didn't work. I had to uninstall Avira and Spybot S&D to get this error message fixed... Let's see how it works now with the defender. (if I could only trust Microsoft'S solution a little bit more in this case)

hi !! I`m a new user. Just got Usine Hollyhock installed last night.
I am trying to route a guitar audio signal, and The soundcard shows off, the input indicator indicates that it recieve signal.
The patch in the modular window is conected. The Vst audio output sounds.

Question; is this a limitation of the Free version ??
I´m I doing something wrong ??
Or do I have to buy the software to be able to use all of the features, live audio input, audio looping, Midi output configuration.

Im a bit lost and I will appreciate a bit of orientation with this software which I find amazing !! and Useful !!

welcome Ozzidelic,
Don't worry, there's no limitations on the Demo version
have you drag your audio input device( from the device panel) in the rack input ? ( feel free to look at the manual in the download section )

Hi Ozzidelic,

it is another topic, but - besides the gain - did you also add some kind of patch in the rack that transports the signal from the rack input to the rack output? For example you could drag the EQ, a filter or something else from the usine library into your rack to test it.

example:

Image

left rack: input , and no audio output
right rack: everything works as expected
