any way to use MusineKit 2 patches to send MIDI to plugins?
I am new to HH3, so please excuse my ignorance in advance...
I am looking through the various patches in the Usine Library and am noticing that many interesting patched are audio-based
I was curious of there is a way to output MIDI pitch, velocity, etc information from ie "Arpix", so that I can play a VST instrument this way?
I tried outputting the audio from my Arpix rack to a rack containing my VST synth, then patched the Audio IN to the MIDI IN on the VST synth and the results were quite frightening! (my computer nearly crashed and the sound was frightening and loud)
any feedback is much appreciated!

Hi stferro and welcome.
There is no midi output wired in Arprix. You have to create one.
Enter the patch and create a midi output form the 2d "transform" module.

If you don't want the sampler sounds from the original patch, just delete the sampler and audio outputs ; then you will have midi out (but no audio) to control your VSTi

Hello.
No problem where are here for helping everybody !
Try to open arpix sequencer, open the patch . On the output of the transform module, replace the midi sampler by a midi output.
put your vsti in a patch beside it.

...is there a way to save the patch so that I don't have to re-wire everything every time I want to use this Arpix - MIDI configuration? all I can see is a way to change the name under "General" on the far left tab
hah - right (left) in front of me!! thanks....face palming that one for sure
I have a couple more newbie-ish questions while I have you guys here....
1) is there a way to change the beat quantize resolution in ie Arpix or in HH3 in general? for example, I see the "quantiz" button under settings in Arpix but this only turns it on or off, and I don't see any ie 1/4. 1/8, 1/16/ or 1/32 beat resolution options anywhere on the the right panel... I noticed that in "Patch mode" there is a 'quantiz 1' "node" but I have not been able to change the quantize resolution by playing with this
2) what is the best way to filter midi notes into a desired scale (ie "quantize in modular terminology") so that ie I can take the random mess from the "Piano" patch and have it ie only output ie G minor?
thanks!

hi,
1) sure, u can do pretty much everything..to find the according module(s) in the patch, well, in this case its hidden in a sub patch. the quantiz 1 is just a data intlet..

just double click on that "shapes" patch and u are in. there we have the quantize trigger module.. http://www.sensomusic.org/manual/en/mod ... ze-trigger

the quantize inlet will give u access to the quantize resolution. if u leftclick-drag-release that inlet, usine will bring up some preconfig modules, which will "fit" that inlet, data-wise. in this case..list box button or combobox..

adding that module to your interface is a different matter. In this case, select that combo module and go to the Settings Panel Design Tab, thats the one with the eye. First parameter would be "where" this element will show up in the UI.
http://www.sensomusic.org/manual/en/pan ... tab-design

i would select popup window..then it will show up in the settings window from the Arpix, but you could put it anywhere u like..top header, etc..

as it sits there quite awkward, unlock the layout with CTRL + L/ CMD +L or press the LOCK icon on the main menu panel

now u can build your dream ui, shift things around, scale them etc..lock it again if u r satisfied.

@iococoi thanks vm for the detailed reply - I have everything set up exactly as you've explained and was even able to rearrange the settings pop-up (nice tip!) - also, it's nice to know I can click on a patch to open the sub-patches of which it is comprised....wasn't aware of this prior
for 2), the link points to "Error - Woops. Looks like this page doesn't exist." - was this for "transformer' by chance? EDIT: found and started using the Transformer - using an LFO to trigger random note patterns - nice!

wanted to add that although I was able to apparently change the quantization resolution before, it didnt seem that responsive to changes (was keeping the same setting apparently) but eventually somehow started responding to different settings. I subsequently deleted that rack and built a new one for practice and now cannot get the resolution to change from its apparent default resolution (turning quantization on or off altogether works though)
This 'Shapes' sub-patch is polyphonic, so when you open it, you see first and also a reference voice. when you edit anything within it, it won't apply to other voices until you hit 'apply polyphony' in patch settings. So what you want to do first here, is dive into sub-patch, make combo box by dragging out the node of quantize parameter, then cut this new module and paste it on upper level beside this sub-patch. dive back into 'Shapes' patch, now when you drag out quantize node, make a Data Inlet instead, and in it's settings make sure to select 'only display once'. then in patch settings of this sub-patch press apply polyphony. on upper lever you should now see new data inlet from this patch, wire it to combo box you've pasted earlier. Then it will work, since it will send quantization setting to all voices at once.

thanks guys - I have it working now - not the most obvious solution so thanks for the invaluable feedback
it's one of the basics of patching in Usine. polyphonic sub-patches are useful in many applications.

Are the MusineKit patches available in HH4 for edit? I can't seem to find them.
Also is there a shared community patch repository?
Cheers,
Anton

Hello & welcome,
You can find them in an old Usine version
About patch repository, once registered, you can access the add-ons made by users

Hey thanks for the welcome and quick response!
I see the MusineKit in the older build, very nice, can I move them to HH4 or is it recommended to use these in HH3?
Also, I can't open any of the Library patches, do I need the registration for this? might be useful to prompt a message?

I was talking about previous version of HH4 and yes you can move them to your personal library ( add the path in the setup/folders tab)
About the library, how do you proceed ?
just drag the patch on an empty place of your workspace ?

Hello,
Just an information. All the MusineKit patches you'll find in the Usine Addons folder (in the library browser) are certified by BrainModular for HH4, not the older.
They were completely checked and corrected, regarding all changes and improvements made for HH4.
All the best
