controlling surround panner with a multitouch device

Unread post by XpiR » 20 Aug 2024, 12:39

Hello
I need to control manually 5 inputs in a panner I don't want to use the mouse in order to keep a live gesture. Have your ever faced that?
My ideas are :
- using touchOSC. Mk1 has a multiXY but the balls seem to disappear if there is no finger contact.
- using touchOSC. Mk2 (no multiXY) with 5 XY modules : not very ergonomic to use, as the balls are not in the same space
- using a touchscreen laptop : would this work? Moving the sound balls in the panner with fingers?
- other idea?

Thanks for your help

OK I think I found a solution. I used to have Liine Lemur before, and I was able to reinstall it on an Android tablet.
Lemur offers this multiball object.
But as Lemur is not developed any more, if you have other ideas I'll be glad to read you. Not for my actual question which is solved, but for people who would like to use TouchOSC or another app.

Hi !
You may use Usine on a PC with touchscreen. Ever as your main computer or as a remote that will send OSC (or global array) back to your main computer

for a remote solution, a celeron nuc will do
cheers

Hello,

Lemur would have been my first choice. I used it a lot, especially because it could worked wired with USB betwen iPad and Mac. Fast and efficient communication. But not supported anymore. Unfortunately 😒

I agree with Olivar. If you can use a Windows engine as tablet, go for Usine. It is the best and simpler choice you have. No limit. Use shared computer features, with Global Arrays or even simple buses. If you don't need other network communication, you can use a simple Cat6 cable between your computers without ethernet switch. Too easy 😆

Thanks Oli & Sylvain for your answers.
I'll go for Lemur, as I have an android tablet, and sure, although Lemur is not supported anymore, it remains powerful.
But I'll keep an eye on touchscreen computers for the future...
