hi everybody, Hi nay, hi senso

i'd like to give you some ideay a good object to creating and manipulate video.
first a video play module than rich than sampler
the entries could be opacity play pause loop reverse, a combo box to define the transparancy mask (alpha channel, add, substract difference) ...
the output could be , video stream rvb level...
it could be plugged on an output screen and we could insert module that set height/width , move, rotate position on the screen make some mask...
it would be could if it'd be open to freeframe plugins.
we could have modules to set keystone or make point anywhere on a picture to move it and make deformations.
we could have to a video input to plug a source like webcam or any other cam (in firewire for example).
we could find source genrator like solid colors with hue entrie.
i would be fantastic.
Thanks
Joffo

unfortunately, I'm a total newbie in video and I try to focus as much as possible on the audio aspect.

In usine video is used:
- to display movies and create video sound tracks
- use camera as a controller

If you want to create more sophisticated video stuff, try Isadora which works great with Usine and OSC communication.

I'm really sorry that you're not interested by video (i know a lot of people who would be very interested by usine if it work with video).
I don't have competences to do that but do you think it's possible to write with sdk for example some modules which calculate video ?
i try a demo of isadorra but it look complicate and a little to exensive for me.
it's difficult to find documentation about it.

I like elektronika. it is quite powerfull and free now , very simple and modular,( reason like) it can deal with midi. very cool
http://aestesis.eu/
also vvvv seems interesting, but seems more complex, free too
http://vvvv.org/

my VJ friends mostly run modul8 or elektronika but Isadora looks awesome
http://www.modul8.ch/

i can understand usine can't focus on vid, even if i wished too. see those softs they are quite huge pgming tasks,
jitter is a separate product than msp for exemple. if make players, then need mixers, flows handling, Fx, keyers ect.
better remote some good dedicaced one via OSC or midi.

it's not because I'm not interested, but only because I'm a newbie in video stuff. So I don't know what is a good modular video system.:(

Hello,

I was thinking since a long time using "Jitter " from Max Msp, meanwhile i have discovered Usine and spent the last two years exploring this great soft.

Is there here a Jitter user ? Where can i find a tutorial site (i'm an absolute begginer), my goal is to be able to use a video loop player the same way it's possible to use in Usine with audio.

Thanks

Since there are existing products for vj, my opinion is that Usine video functions should focus on using video as input. I'm not using such software but I think linking with vj softwares could be done via osc ? Working on complementarity could be more efficient than trying to do all functions in Usine, one reason I chose Usine was his simple audio perimeter compared to Max/MSP or PureData.

I've tried working with webcam, but I wasn't able yet to create a useful project.

To get more accuracy, I think a few options could help :

- having RGB output, which could help :
* to track motion not only on contrast (like that http://www.youtube.com/v/BWf_sy87qNI)
* to get on/off signals (to use motion gesture)

- implementing some options in motion detection mode to reduce noise and artefacts :
* motion prediction / filter : implementing some DCM filter for example

Seeing this difficulties, I've been working for weeks on embedded accelerometers and gyroscopes to get the same functionalities, (and I'm about to pass this challenge). I'll post some links when it will work. I would reconsider my orientation if Usine video inputs progress.

ps : sorry for my limited English

I'm totally agree
