Most of the time I have the IB window open. I would never need to open the racks window except to add devices, which happens every few years....
Otherwise, I only use the rack view for navigating between patch windows.
I wish I could use keycommands to move around patches from within the patch window. Left and right could move to the same patch number in the next or previous rack, and the up down keys could move to the next/previous patch in the current rack. Obviously you would not always have a rackN.patchN, but simple default behaviours could cover that.
I find the hardest part of patching in Usine is just navigating between the IB and patch windows, because there is no direct route, without either closing the IB, or opening a menu to show in patch (and selecting the control a second time, because it's never in the menu when you open it....) And the arrow buttons in the patching window always put windows in an order I don't really understand, and have no control over.
cheers!
