So I bought this USB to DB9 wire:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00ID ... UTF8&psc=1
also this NEC tv because it has RS232 input in the flavor of a DB9 connector:
https://www.amazon.com/NEC-E505-Display ... B00T2UAJA0
I'm plugging in the wire straight from laptop into the NEC tv (also using a sex changer because reasons) and am trying to send the hex code to make it turn on: 01 30 41 30 41 30 43 02 43 32 30 33 44 36 30 30 30 31 03 73 0D
I match the settings from the system info to the Usine serial module which is COM3 and 9600 baudrate, etc. I hit the connect button and on/off button but nothing seems to happen. The TV is off but powered on when I try to send the signal. I tried also sending the off command when it is on with same (no) results. Am I missing something? Is this even possible?
Thanks in advance!
Another RS232 question
Update: Looking a bit closer at the manual, I found that a null modem conversion needed to take place, so I plugged the USB to DB9 and used a converter. Using Hercules Utility Setup, I was able to send the hex code above successfully. Yes! Usine remains a mystery in terms of doing the same. I noticed some extraneous code show up on the utility as the code was resolving itself and tried variations of it in Usine, however couldn't make it work. Anyone else doing anything like this?
You should use a kissbox device for that https://kiss-box.nl/
they have an rs232 module which send osc.
We have a partnership whit kissbox and they also have made an Usine user module for their boxes !
