record midi control
record midi control
Hello,
Simple (dumb?!) question, but i really can't find the answer :
how can i record the movements of a midi controler (LIvid DS1, or nanokorg ) ?
in a way that i can playback the midifile (wich would reproduce the actions) and edit it.
eh a piano roll doesn't seems to record it
if anyone knows i'll be thanksfull !

Use the patch /Data/Manipulation/data-manipulation-rec-xy.pat

Thanks Senso. that works...
in fact the piano roll do record everthings done with the midi controler, but don't show it.
(checking the file in reaper show the knobs movements)
it could be interesting to have a patch "midi rec", that show the tracks used ?
i'm thinking of this while recording my performances, with the ability to edit it later, but not in audio.
but for the moment, i can't play back the midifile in a way that makes move the automation done in midi learn, just like when i move the knobs...

It's an old request: be able to record live-session. But the main issue for us is the huge amount of data you can record:
- midi controllers
- random generators
- sensors values
- osc inputs,
- etc...
this can represent Giga's of data's...
And then, how you can edit recorded datas ? with thousands of automations curves?

ourgh you're right things get waaay too big !
i'll keep it simple, record the two midi controlers with piano roll,
and edit the curves if needed in reaper.
thanks.

Hug Germain, I don' understand this "record the midi controlers with piano roll, and edit the curves if needed in reaper." How do you do ?
Thank you

hello Gwennaelle, sorry i didn't saw your message. you might have found how to do ?
> create rack, put on the input you midi control device
> in the patch put the piano roll module
> hit record / stop
>when you click on the recorded midifile in the pianoroll module, in the menu you can export the midi file.
and then open it in reaper, to edit the file as you want.
i'm more an audio guy than midi ! hope this help !

to use the data-manipulation-rec-xy.pat just connect one of the 2 inputs to what you want to record and click on "REC"

Awesome & simple ! always something to learn. thanks Senso
check the "event recorder V2" from Oli_Lab !
records datas, play at any speed etc...
you should use external arrays to have recordings saved in preset, see example.
cheers
