thanks guys, yup this one was quite a long job.

Deleted /reuploaded V1.1

added tracks Vu Meters, Master Vumeter, Tracks clips playing position, Thanks to new ST8 system can enable/disable them
via putting an included device as first one on master track. so if overload can bypass them either from live or from the interface accessing first device of master track. But I tested 8 tracks seems working nice no overload.

Simply bravo !

The script are very nice !!

But now... how it works.. with the lot of buttons ??? :-)

thanks multiphone, yes i think i got to make a wiki,
to my mind it was relatively simple in terms of ableton user to catch what is what but you find it always simple when it's your patch.
hehe that not the case with other. I tried to explain a bit on text ya see on opening the patch, but as soon as i can i will try to make an help with snapshots Jpg, maybe then lukcky luke (ethnix) could help me if a bit of time ;) on the wiki im sooo bad on?

by waiting the wiki don't hesitate if have Q, I thought about you when making my pans setups, I will try to extract some parts
for them to work in usine without ableton a bit later, i think some can be interesting, ie quite fun to "roll" pans over tracks.

I have hard job to do some script for new spat and some music to produce for the moment. I'm realy impressed by your work but in my state of mind of today i'm lost.

Step by step i go to the mountain ;-)

hey jean rené oooooh i miss your avatar! ah we see it a bit hopefully hehe

from what ive tried, on 32bits system there should be no need of python if copying directly /liveOsc should work
on 64 bits system need to replace Osc.py file in /liveOsc by the one I put in /64bits folder and install Python.
then copy the 'lib' folder of python into /liveOsc as subfolder.

here Im running python 3.1.2, but on liveOsc page it seems it was working with 2.5., so im supposing this will work with all above versions, if wanna be sure pick3.1.2, im sure it works with it.

i couldn't build it without your precious help master bsork!

Btw: found failure, if triggering a scene can have data drop out for clips status and the interface will not correcly update playing
clips in white, before i used rebuild to refresh but on scenes pressing rebuild will trigger them instead of ask them.

this is because I recently changed from two separate OSC (one to ask, one to set) to One only that have dynamic adress change
but i must miss something, the caption adress change too late over the datas asking process, wheras they are supposed to be trig in same time in my script.mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

have to fix that, sorry will post update ASAP.

Hi cuizi,

a tm2 mmm lucky you!

ok let's try to debug. there are two separate pb, the script captions is one thing but half normal, the script will be ok when it will receive captions from live, also i might have to improve some init things, but that should not prevent for working normally.

the first thing is beeing sure booth communicate via OSC leds activity.

here im running W7 64, ableton Live 8.1.3 and included RAR osc files, let's check the procedure i did:

dowloaded and installed python 64 bits latest (3.XX) , then on C:python31 you can find a lib Folder.

I copied all that folder to
c:prgm-filesabletonlive.8xxressourcesMidi remote scriptsLiveOsclib
the liveOsc folder contain the incuded in Rar 32bit files, + then replace OSC.py by the one found in /64 bits.

Now run ableton first, go on midi tab and choose LiveOsc, be sure there is an active local connection, and no Firewall block either Live or usine. Then Start Usine, go to OSC preference, activate OSCin and "monitor Local Host", put 9001 in local port.
try to move a fader, the leds should blink.

i will check if i made errors on files but i really doubt, otherwise i post ya here my local 64 bits files i use, with already included /lib subfolder and good osc.py file.
(create a 'LiveOsc' folder in /midi remote script and extract the RAR inside of it), but suppose still need python 3.XX installed.
this should work, otherwise i guess it's a FW problem, maybe temp disable all FW to debug first..

Great work! Thanks!

If Usine work on different PC - how to receive OSC messages in Live over Lan? If it possible.
Thanks for answer.

Hi lawnman,

it's normally possible to have the controller running in usine on one one computer and live on another.
Pb is at that time i didn't have 2 computers to test so i prefered not include this option yet, but this week i got acces to 2 computers, so i will try to test that and provide a new update with this option later in the week.

I tried on one comp - it's amasing good!
But on two comp can't connect Usine and Ableton. If you can help - we'll all be happy :)

Hi lawnman, thanks, glad to ear some positive feedback.
unfortunately I don't have acces to 2nd computer yet so I can't debug and test myself,
but i modified the patch so normally it should be accessible now.

I ve made a little explain under "osc" section when ya open the patch.
basically i added a swich you should turn from local to remote, and enter destination computer IP/name. (live comp)
you ll also probably have to modify the LiveOsc.py file as I explain, changing 'local host' to '192.56.XX.XX',( your usine
computer IP)
If wanna try and report how it goes...

I have connection between Usine and Ab computers with your implementation (1.1).
Some keys work fine - play stop .....
But some data non coming to Usine from Live. I don't see clip name, scene name, tracks volume and etc.
I think it's non big problem for you :)

Good afternoon.
I would really really love to try this. I am brand new to usine and know nothing about it but I do know lots about audio software. I have a 32" touch table. I need to know from start to finish how to make this work. Please if you have time tell me all the things I need to get going on this. I tried to load the patch but my screen looks nothing like yours.
Please help me, what do I need to install to make this work. I tried to install the matrix pack but the directions were a little unclear as to where each part goes. Help !!!

The directions for installing the matrix pac are not so good

Matrix.usr in the folder Usine/Files/Modules/Interface Design/. - This is easy to understand no problem
Matrix Utils v1.2 in the folder Usine/Files/Usine Library/. - Also easy to understand
Matrix Examples v1.2 in your patch library too, or where you store add ons patch. - I have no idea what this means..Help!!
Matrix Sources v1.2 folder in the SDK folder, at same level than other projects. - I have no idea what this means. I dont see a folder called SDK at all.

Sam

Hey man, I've been reaching out to you via Youtube probably best just to message you hear. I did finally figure out where the link was. The link on the forum has spaces and the from that addons doesn't. Anyway I was wondering if I could get a copy of the ableton project made for 8.1? If not then I'll upgrade no questions asked. : )

spencerthayer: the latest version is in addon section, if ya dl the rar there is a "default project" wich contain the liveset.
basically it's an empty 8 tracks with a device on master controlled by the interface, the device is also inclded as .Adg file
in the .rar , in fact all is explained in readme.txt of the rar for installing, then when the patch open there should be automatically
a blue popup explaining the patch.
or ya mean the liveset don't open on 8.1? im sorry i don't have 8.1 anymore, but you can easy create a new project with 8 tracks
and drop the .adg device (copy first to ableton library) to the master track, if fact you can put just an empty audio effect rack,
it will work the same, it's just the .adg is named.

then paste the link on message so maybe it can help me see what's your pb. Do you see a blue help on open?

I am using Live 8.1.3 and am running windows XP 32

ok i will check, but the easiest way to install is pick the latest add_on and read the readme.txt

it's all explained how to install live0sc. for 32bits copy the folder in the rar called /live0sc to your folder
c:\abletonressoucesMidi Remote Scripts

then lauch live and in midi tab pick liveOsc in the first left controller. then on lauching usine there should be a help popup
explaining the rest of procedure. i check your image..

Ok I got faders and patchnames after a reload. Here are the issues Im running into now. When I move the channel faders, they do not respond in Live. I can however pick clips wich is very cool. The master fader works but sometimes will not work and lags very badly.

mmm strange, i can't reproduce here, sorry. I noticed some lagging when some apps are trying to connect to internet,
try to avoid any thing that could use the net while running usine andd live. did you use the included liveset so you have the device on master track?
then from the interface, if accessing the master using master swich on top, you should see some pots
named "master vumeter, clips position, track meters, send meters. try to disable them, maybe some can create overload,
but strange, here it's working ok..

either that or just drop a new empty Audio Effect Rack as first one on master track and label it like this:
this allows to turns vumeters off in case of dropouts and can be controlled from the interface,
the default liveset is only 8 tracks and this device, nothing more.

It seems like it's almost working but I keep getting a [Script Captions Tracks] Error Call Back message in the status box in the top right hand corner of Usine. There seems to be no midi communication between Usine to Ableton. But when I change things like the tempo in Ableton it will change it in Usine. When I try to change it in Usine it wont allow it.

mmmm dk strange, i now this script caption error, got to fix it. note they communicate via 0SC, so there is no midi that's normal,
you should see however the two osc activity leds blink on top left usine transport bar when sending/receiving datas.

on open I usually press "reset' so it flush the datas, then rebuild, then the scripts are fed with datas from live and don't show errors anymore.
note the tempo can be controlled from the interface in bi directianal way normally, but not from Usine main tempo directly. one fisrt open you might need to change from tempo/vol/cross in the list on the interface and get back to the one you wanna control so it updates asking ableton, then you can change the value, it might not work on first open cause it has no value to set in memory. i will recheck but here it seems working ok, i don't see.... If you wana debug and see messages from live,
you can activate "trace OSC in" in osc preference to see messges comming from live, you can temp swich of vu_meters,
clips position ect turning down the knobs of the device to easier check datas are send. but as you receive tempo, there
should be no reasons you don't receive all in local mode, as well as if you can interact from the interface, all should work,
there are few tricky init problems like this one, sometimes need to change a track or item selection first time to feed the
memories of the script.

Anyway Ive started working a lot on a next important update 1.2 version this we, checking several scripts error like this one, and all repatching using Matrix instead of panels, (as a short coming one will allow colors and captions). I identified few trigering problems that react much better now especially scenes and clip grid, made a system with differents colors for cross A and B and other various improvements in visual feedback, using borders colors, and found a more stable way to force live reupdates correctly clips status that could be weird on senes lauch due to my script and overload,
but main big work was to replace
all independants panels by matrixes, and matrix allow ie to scale vertically the grid to display from 1 to 8 rows so they can be larger if need more precision, and move/scale much less items if need to customize/change the layout. quite cool. so got still a certain amount of work but's it's on the way for a better version, i hope posting the new version matrix powered in next 2 weeks..
let me a bit amout of time.

st8 also told me live0sc had weird parts coded if using huge livesets, i got to check with him if he founded time to check, but i
can imagine he is busy., any way my latest tests seems quite ok with actual new patch. i ll try to provide ya a beta version asap.

really nice addon... thanks for it

in my situation is a bit strange... all is working in both directions (sometimes small lags, but ok),

but no sliders from usine to live... in other direction its working.

when i trace the network, i can see following information:

1. i move in ableton a fader > i get /live/fader
2. i move in usine a fader > /live/tempo

strange isnt ?

hi electrixx. thxs for report.

you mean the volumefaders??? indeed that's really strange, both should look like: /live/volume.

anyway im really close to provide V2 wich has been highly improved over V1, especially in data transferts.

i reduced all osctags to 1 to 3 letters, and optimized for the patch, made a total preload system for nolatency scrolling/constant requests, fixed few bugs in triggering, the clip positions are now computed locally so globally the data transferts have been reduced by 4, with much more stable results. there were also few things in liveosc script and the patch that could slow down live a lot i finally could identify and fix,

i make a last round check this week, and i should provide a beta version i hope next week. i let the extra stuff for later(midi keys/pads) but want a very stable and responsive grid/mixer fixed scalable base setup.
think start to got it only now ..atlast , was a very long figth with really lunatic liveosc, that have a high tendency to truncate datas when things could be sooo much simpler,..anyway i won a battle over the beast, it does what i want now. ;)

oh i was posting while you posted :)

ok so that works, cool! , indeed interesting to know! i cound't check on win32.. so you copied the OSC.py of 64bit Folder and replaced the other? mmmm may I have inverted the two files by error...if so ooops

so it may explain some others pb some users met, 32 bits users should do the same...and maybe 64 should test the other file
as well, by waiting a fresh V2..

yeah a bit strange, but makes sense, when you work on 64 bit...

how i said, i had that problem with the osc.py (32bit)..... there i got the osc message /live/tempo on a volume fader...

when i copied afterwards the osc.py (64bit) in midi remote scripts/liveosc it works perfectly, but i am not on 64bit windows, thats a bit weird.

maybe somebody can reproduce it, and then its just the readme.txt what you need to change :))

i am looking forward to V2 :)

thanks for amazing work mate

some things would be awesome... in V2

first of all:
-multi touch fader support (its not working right now)
-one color sheme what maybe is easy to change for end-user
-clip playing information inside a clip which is playing
-send faders (not from the tracks) i mean like a mixer view

thats i would love :)))

-multi touch fader support (its not working right now)
Unfortunatly ive got no multitouch to test, but normally
They should work multitouch now. It will take me a certain amount of time to make all parts multitouch since i dont have the hardware and my base module
Matrix is not yet multitouch, but as soon as booth will be true, it will be full multitouch, with why not a pinch for zoom :;
-one color sheme what maybe is easy to change for end-user
Not easy because most colors depends from tracks colors clips, mute, solos status or volumes values inside scripts, and i use a lot bmp, wich make hard to track colors to change with the classic edit layout, but i have to think about how to get more controls.
-clip playing information inside a clip which is playing
Now playing clips have white borders, if ya mean a fader for position
Matrix dont allow this yet, and my feel is that would slow down scrolling,
So i made a compromise with some header track faders in v2.
-send faders (not from the tracks) i mean like a mixer view
You mean the return faders? Yeah i got to focus on that next week,
I have let return track a bit left..

hey 23fx23... thanks for reply...

about multitouch... its a bit weird... normal faders like master fader, effects knobs... can be controlled in multitouch.
but the main faders (what is more a hold down buttom) is not working in multitouch :/ i think its a script problem, maybe?!

the matrix seems to work here as multitouch... hehe.. maybe i am wrong, but i can press 3 4 clips at same time and it start to play.

about the clip information, on my system i got most time problems with the matrix, clip names are not shown correct, the colors are not correct and thats why i cant see the white border, which clip is playing :(

about colors, i am not meaning colors in clip view, that is great like it is... but i wish a thinner color design for volume meters and mute buttoms... this is sometimes so crazy color full, pink mixed with yellow and a dark grey is not so beautyful :D :D :D

but anyway great work!!!

regards erik

yop electrixx,
mmm that's really strange you can get multitouch on matrix, cause it's not supposed to be multitouch yet, neither the script i use!!!,
anyway cool if no weird behaviour if triggering several!!! maybe the system i made can quick select clips one after the other and launch them, giving the impression of multitouch with quantize..

In fact all is multitouch if touch from differents part: ie can solo one track while launching a clip or setting a fader, but on the same
function, ie solos, it's not cause matrix is not multitouch yet, i don't think i can do something until matrix get multitouch.
but volume faders on V2 are based on step modules, wich i beleive is multitouch, (not buttons, faders), so should work..

about clip infos I made a completely different system on V2, wich make a brute force request of all single clips one after the
other for a total preload (a bit long at start, but then ultra fast and can be saved on reopen), so that there seems to have
no more corrupt datas in names an colors, that's the only way i found for stable results out of liveOSC. I got in touch with Ipad TouchAble guys and they went to exactly same system after long searchs, also i think there was no independant borders colors on V1 ya use, it's only on V2, wich is much more readable now.

yeah i understand it can be colorfull, that was a voluntary decision to quick identify tracks (my kick is red, HH blue, snare yelow, ect),
but I will see if i can give more controls over that, maybe a global saturation, lum fader, (still they will pick track colors),
note you can decide of track colors,( wich are also mutes and volume faders colors )via the color of first clip in the track in live, so you can make ie all them blue less satured if putting a first scene filled with blue clips... (or the color ya want)..

hi berenice. the adress seems good, it's supposed to receive the audio/midi clip lenght ang warp/loop infos if there is a clip.mmmm
i am really sorry i got so much work now i can really check the old 1.X version, wich anyway had several bugz, so
i prefered nearly redo all from scratch in a more clean way for v2 and i changed many adrress tags in the python files. ill do my best to provide it soon, but the full version will be avaible with next usine 5.5.
but i may have a file ready for 5.25 with only the matrix (no mixer, just clip launcher but scalable and preload) i can maybe post at the end of the week..i ll check asap

found it:

the LV_SELECTCLIP sendbus is based on clipsnb/selectrack/scrollx getbus,
i think it should be scroll Y.
so, here is a working solution:
Image
replaced LV_SELECTCLIP by LV_SCROLL_Y,
added a 'pass if change' between the osc receive and the loop switch,
and linked data 1 and 2 between 'loopall' and 'loop all set' osc send.

thanks, was wondering this is probaly a stupid question, but is there a way to store audio files in usine,in a way that the ableton session view works,so one could eliminate the use for running ableton along side usine, but have it all running in usine??

hope you know what i mean

i've send a mail to 23fx , he know better Live than me, but he's maybe in holidays
there's certainly different way to do what you mean. a sampler module can have a list of sample and can store them , you can even have several list of samples and so..
i begin to think about something..will have more time later
