I've been fiddling around with Usine for several years now, but it wasn't until last week that I dragged the laptop onto a stage. I'm a true has-been; the concert was a reunion of my old band Holy Toy which debuted nearly 30 years ago, and the occasion was the release party for a book on the "post punk era" 1980-85 in Norway.

[shameless bragging]
By a strange coincident, it was also announced just the week before that our first LP Warszawa was voted no 20 in a poll amongst 100 Norwegian musicians of the best Norwegian records of all times. The Top 10 was announced today.
[/shameless bragging]

I used Usine with one big workspace with one conductor snapshot per song. I had created my own rhythm box to replace the (now disappeared) DR-55 Dr Rhythm we used way back when and to add extra percussion similar to what we added in studio. I also used samplers as a replacement for the tape machine(s) our sound guy used to operate. Usine also acted as a MIDI control station between my FC300 and Axiom 49 controllers, to my guitar rack (w/pre-amp, switcher and TC fireworx), and Reason for some extra samples and some synth stuff.

I must admit that I was nervous that the whole setup would go haywire, but no! :D

If anyone's curious, some videos with dubious sound quality and balance has been put up on Youtube:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PxH6oj0fOtE
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fB55D29khQg

(Well, ok, some quite dubious playing as well... We had problems with monitoring and the placement of the damn video screen made communication across the stage pretty bad.)

Bsork-
Sounds great to me and as a fan of post punk, even better. Congrats on getting the band back together, as they say.
Let us know when you start touring and raking in the bucks.

Ironically, being an amateur for longer than I care to mention and doing my first real gig in 13-14 years, this was my best paid concert ever. Hopefully we'll be doing some more jobs next year, but not so sure that we'll get outside of Norway. Time will tell.
