Midi Tessel v0.1

Inspired by the Monome appz named Tessel , by sleepersecond, Midi Tessel is a Launchpad patch, with 7 midi sequences. Each sequence have its own Midi channel, you can sets start and end for each sequence, reverse sequence, add FX’s and more.

There was a Launchpad in the mail already before you uploaded it, and I couldn't wait to spend some time Tessel-ing. Now that it has arrived I can say that this patch is seriously fun to work with!!

I did however seem to run into some performance issues running the demo in Windows 7 x64 using update7(e) 32-bit. CPU spikes and audio dropouts.

Really glad you appreciate it
About spikes, I've test it on Mac and win 32 only, will test tomorrow on win 64, have you try to replace audio players by Plug-ins..? same results..?
is it an recent computer ..? processor/ram

Sorry for the lack of details.

It's not a new computer, but it's not much of a slouch either:

- AMD 3ghz 940 (quad core)
- 4 GB RAM

I should maybe also mention that it is a Launchpad S, in case there is some processing for the previous (not class compliant) Launchpads that is no longer necessary and somehow has something to do with it (though I don't think it is very likely).

I tried both the demo workspace and a new workspace where I hooked up the patch to some plugins. Same effect, unfortunately.

ok,
Don't know about the S version,
Of course there's an important midi flow both way, have you try different block size values to check ?

i am having the same issues regarding the spikes/dropouts, the cpu time display usually shows something like 12% here and then occasionally a cpu overload (90%) and glitches without cpu overload. this is a x64 (old 2x2GHz xeon) + old launchpads.

ok, i'll see with senso what he can do, but on my oldest machine dual core 1,8 ghz, i can reproduce cpu overload when i use hight speed ( 1/64, 1/128) but increase the block size solves the problem ?

I wasn't switching speeds around much (not using anything as fast as what you are describing :) ). I'll give the block size option a try later though so that you have some more perspective on what the problem is.

Increasing the block size will also increase overall latency of Usine, right?

yes, of course, but it depends if you want to mix audio real time processing in the same time, if not you can increase it without real problems.

I just reproduced the issue in the newest (update7(f)) 32-bit version with block size 128. 64-bit version on Win7 x64 seemed pretty stable.

re: 'mix audio real time processing', i assume you mean incorporating live performance input such as vocals, instruments, etc? or some other distinction? because that phrasing is broad enough to include all computer related music software stuff :) (minus off-line bouncing)

About real time, yes was my idea, sorry English is not my native language, as you have certainly notice before, so my words are not always precise.. ;-)

About midi flow, will be solved next version

welcome
You need to open the devices panel and drag your launchpad in from here on the rack input
same for the launchpad out

Probably a sign of my complete newb-ness, but I can't find this? I have found the MIDI version, but can't find re-tessel? I've updated the list via the internet, still nothing?
