New User - A Few Question :)
Hey guys,
I've been looking for an experimental DAW to use - I like to mix between software, hardware and my own programmed things, I like to jam rather than arrange full songs.
I have a few general questions that I couldn't find answers for in the Manual or the Videos.
1. Can I record to the grid audio/midi? If not what's the best way for me to record from my software synths or get audio recorded and arranged from my hardware synths, guitars, vocals.
2. Is there any undo function?
3. Is there a MetaSurface kind of function where I can morph smoothly between multiple parameter? Or is that something I could build.
4. Is there any support for timestretch?
Thanks in advanced - its a very fascinating piece of software.

Hi and Welcome Slipgate !
I'll try to answer to your question but I'm afraid I'm still a little fuzzy so much
your questions bring more.
however don't expect to get the same results as with a linear sequencer, this is not what Usine is made for .
It depends on the context. For the patching part yes, for the grid it's partly implemented, for the actions on the interface parameters no because it would be too complicated and cumbersome.
This is currently under development. But here again it is a complicated question given the logic of the software.
Yes of course . The gran sampler works very well for that .

Indeed it is impossible to record midi or audio in the grid. But you can easily create patch dedicated for it whith sampler or piano roll module."Can I record to the grid audio/midi? If not what's the best way for me to record from my software synths or get audio recorded and arranged from my hardware synths, guitars, vocals."

Welcome @TheSlipgate,
About Morphing, here a patch you can test,
You can have uo to 8 parameters, and morph with mouse or MIDI learn or with the physical engine
Then drag the knobs ( with CTRL+Shift) on the parameters of patch you want control: About timestretch you have this page of the manual:
Audio Stretch Panel

Thank-you for the reply guys.
I have to throw my old ideas out and think a little bit differently.
I'm studying the manual now - I also found some videos on YouTube in French and am using the Translate to understand.
Very cool software

Thanks nay-seven. I've been looking through them.
I am currently trying to make a guitar patch which uses Guitar Rig at the moment, but what I am trying to achieve is:
Guitar Rig -> Sampler -> Output
Is there a way to get the sampler to save a recording, then reset and allow me to record again.
The end goal is having multiple loops / takes of an audio part that I can then use.
I've attached a patch I've created so far.

Here a workspace example to a multirecorder:
Each record create a random name and is added to a list , then you can move between recordings.

Awesome - I see what you have done there.
I did notice my audio from guitar rig is no longer recorded & the patches are seperated.
Is there a way to send audio from 1 patch to another?

mm strange, works here
Usine rack is working this way, it's a vertical routing:
- audio input
- guitar rig
- recorder
- audio output
you can set the audio thru if needed in the settings of the audio recorder patch
( little arrow when you pass the mouse on the right up zone of the patch)
now maybe your audio device input is not the same than me ?

Ahh I played with the bypass button and it now work - might be due to me using an older version of the software.

Also I had to map the audio input of the Sampler Patch directly to the output so I could monitor my sound.
It does work tho - so thank-you!

Strange you need to to map the audio input, cause it's already done
but if it works for you, it's ok, good news,
have fun
