HH5 Freezes loading patch
HH5 Freezes loading patch
Hi all. Using free version of the new HH5. It freezes loading a complex patch, not always but most of the times, I would say more than 60%. Sometimes patch loads fine when is within a workspace and this is loaded. Some other times it just does not load at all and the whole program freezes forcing me to close Usine from Windows' task manager. I'm using some plugins such as Overloud TH-U, Acustica Audio Nebula v3 and a convolution reverb. They all load and work fine in other circumstances and versions of Usine. I've checked and rebuild the patch for any possible configuration that could cause errors but I don't find any apparently. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
What's the previous version of Usine you had these patches working in?

Hi... Thanks for replying. I initially built the patch with HH5 5.0.210802 then moved to version 5.0.210906 and rebuilt the patch. I tried to open the new patch with v5.0.210802 and received error message saying that the patch was created on a newer version of HH5 and could not be open with this version and asking for an update. I just opened the project and the patch loaded fine, it took a litlle while but it did open. As said before ... you never know when its going to work or not.
I could not be able to send a bug report. It seems that the page has been close. "contact & support" page does not open, 404 error appears instead.

Hello,
When you save a patch or a workspace with the version of Usine dated 210906 ans open it with an older version like 210802, this message appears. It's normal. In 99,9% of the time, there's no consequence.

I've seen this type of message many times before in other softwares, it warns you about the fact of trying to open a project with a prior version of the software and a possible malfunction of it due to a potential incompatibility, but the software lets you open the project, it is only a warning message. As far as I can remember never happened to me in Usine.
Any way, I've been checking and debbuging the patch and things are getting better, I have not had a freeze in the last 48 hours. One thing I would like to improve is loading speed since it take a little while to do so, 6 to 10 seconds. As said before it is a complex patch with many wires, I was thinking about using "quick links" when possible as wire replacement, would this improve loading time?
It is the same with Usine.I've seen this type of message many times before in other softwares, it warns you about the fact of trying to open a project with a prior version of the software and a possible malfunction of it due to a potential incompatibility, but the software lets you open the project, it is only a warning message.
Quick links would not improve loading speed, it would improve CPU consumption.
You can share your patch for more help.
Sylvain
Here is the patch. I'm still checking it to fin a way to make it smaller or less complex.

I had a couple of freezes today loading the patch, I had to shut down Usine from Windos task manager.. The issue is a random thing.
After a quick test, the issue comes from the fact that you have many plugins inside.
At the office we don't have your plugs so the patch loads very fast without any trouble.
So I guess that the plugs freeze when loading, and it's not necessary in the Usine side.

I tested all the plugins in the patch and the one causing the problem is "Acustica Audio NEBULA v3" which I've been using for years in several DAWs and Usine versions without a single issue. Today I extensively tested this plugin in previous versions of Hollyhock (v3 and v4) and it loads fine. I performed reloads of the patch over 50 times and everything went fine, no single problem. For some reason it seems that HH5 is having difficulties managing this plugin. I have to say that all versions of Usine tested share the same VST plugin folder.
Something that calls my attention since HH4 is that all the plugins scanned appear in their respective folder but in a peculiar way, in a sort of a sequence of multiple folders forming a cascade. Never experienced this in any of Usine's previous versions.
I attach a screenshot.

The plugins folder structure is not a big problem, but I guess that you should recreate plugs with the right path to avoid Usine to search inside the folder to find the right file.
Or simply copy the HH4/Config/plug-ins/ folder into HH5/Config/plug-ins?

Hello. All the plugins being used by Usine are installed and located in a dedicated VST folder (It has worked this way for years wiyhout any problem). All versions of Usine scan this folder searching for plugins (that's what I meant when I said that all versions of Usine share the same VST folder). I haven't touch any config/plug-ins folder in within Usine (any version) since I guess the information contained in these folders pertain to every and each version of Usine after VST folder is scanned. Actually I did a test copying HH4 config/plug-ins folder into HH5 and did not work, plugins didn't even load correctly.
Again, I've been intensively testing the patch and Acoustica Audio NEBULA 3 over and over in HH3, HH4 and HH5. Versions 3 and 4 perform nice, the plugin loads fine with not a single problem. Not the case of HH5 that freezes randomly.

Apparently the issue with NEBULA v3 plugin was corrected in version 5.0.211002. I'll keep on testing
