Make HH as a VSTi with a twist
Make HH as a VSTi with a twist
To make HH appealing to more DAW users make it available as a VSTi.
But here the big deal twist, make it with a similar functionally and GUI to the very popular Unify.

Reading the Unify spec and reviews, it seems like some people are amazed that it can do things that Usine can already do by patching.
The idea of exporting VST patches into Unify format is what Usine can do with presets.
The only thing lacking is the preset manager name input to set the name from the VST patch name.
Hopefully when the new preset manager arrives in HH5 that will be possible.
Of course you can use Unify inside Usine !!

If I may and it help, in some scenarios, I'm using rearoute (or VB-Cable, or any similar solutions) between reaper and usine, providing me tons of channels, would enable easily to have usine patch as vst insert or as vsti, also loopmidi as a virtual midi loopback might be usefull to send daw automations etc. Nvm if already done and/or out of topic

I do use unify within HH, works fine.
Running HH as a vst would be awesome, although it would take a powerful computer if your wkp is very big...
Usine used to back in the day, but I'm not sure there are plans to do it again.
Could you use Rewire to similar effect?

Custom Ryzen 5900x MATX build, Win10, Fireface UFX, touchscreen
Custom 2 manual midi keyboard
Usine, Kontakt, Reaktor, Synthmaster, Byome, Arturia, Soundtoys, Unify

I think it's easier to set up JACK router than bother with Rewire (which is proprietary and not free for implementation afaik)

I had a go with ASIOVADPRO driver, quite good.
mainly between reaper and usine.
BUT, I prefer as an old school person to commit my track in Usine by recording it and then do the stem mixing in Reaper. this way I find the workflow faster than being able to modify everything anytime.

I have not forgotten this request for HH to be offered as a VST plugin.
I would however be very happy if the Patch Editor Panel alone was offered as a VST.
And allow the Patch Editor Panel to be hosted in any DAW.
Is there a chance of this ever happening?
My feeling is to make the Patch Editor Panel available for sale.

I also am still waiting for Usine to come back to having function as plugin in other DAW.
Does not need to be the full blown version. Just audio /MIDI / plugin hosting /basic interface /patching/logic, one "rack", inter-instance communication.
Totally ok with it being a separate product.
Maybe in 10 years the similar patching concepts in Bitwig will finally catch up to where Usine is now..

Ok, so I guess hack our own solution and hope the best that it stays futureproof is the only hope to see any future integration of Usine within other DAW?
Honestly it seems like a missed opportunity to "re" open Usine to a much wider userbase "again" if there were an ingenious integrated solution to tightly tie Usine
into the linear recording and mixing softwares that the vast majority of music production enthusiast and professionals use on a day to day basis.
But what do I know.
