Hello,

When shall we use the thread option in Rack Calculation Mode? Is it when there are lots of patches inside
or "big" patches with heavy cpu consumption? Or in other cases.
Thank you

Hello,

This option has to be used carrefully.
You can use it effectively when you have a lot to calculate. If you have just one patch, this will not change anything, only for several patches. One thread per patch. But the reason to be carrefull is that you don't know the order of calculation. So it can't work if you have audio going from one patch to another below.

All the best

Sylvain

You're wellcome.
Just FYI, polyphonic sub-patch could also now be multithreaded, but this is the same, be carrefull, it could be worth, depending on many parameters.

Those features could be very interesting in heavy processing, but you'll need to be deeply aware of multithreading and use them with tests.

really neat that there is an option either way, thanks! would be great if automatic chain analyze option could be implemented to apply multi-threading when possible 😊

It's impossible to predict chaining in the general case: think about buses for example.
